GOC604170-CS-1 - Inspection and Study of the Storm Pipe

Study Only Conduct a complete audit and inspection of the storm drainage system from the roof (roof drain) to where the system empties into the city storm sewer. The aim is to identify the current condition of all elements of the system, any prevailing deficiencies and recommendations to return the system an acceptable level of condition and performance. There are two main storm pipes, one in the east and and one in the west tower of the building that are approximately 10 to 12" in diameter. Some parts of the drain pipe including some joints often leak. The pipes are part of base building installation and as such are very old. From visual inspection of the pipe exterior in different sections, it also appears that the pipes are corroding. Portion of the old cast iron pipe was replaced with XFR piping in the past due to the condition of the pipe in that section. A good section of the pipes are also enclosed and can't be visually inspected. A CCTV camera inspection and ultrasonic study of the storm pipe system will identify any damage/heavy corrosion areas in the pipe and assess the overall condition of the storm pipe system .The CCTV inspection will be for the entire length of the risers. There will be15 ultrasonic tests for each of the main risers for a total of 30 tests. Per riser, there are 5 tests to be done in the top floors of the building, 5 tests to be done in the middle floors of the building, and 5 tests to be done in the lower floors of the building. This will determine sections of pipe that will need to be replaced or repaired to prevent leaks and further damage. This project is recommended by BGIS building operations and maintenance staff.
