The scope of this project includes the replacement of existing steam and condensate lines in an adjacent path to the existing lines at 501 University Cres (The Freshwater Institute), Winnipeg, MB. Though the client’s requirement to provide redundancy is not provided with the proposed options, it does guarantee that the facility will minimize unexpected downtime as the infrastructure that supplies the building’s is new and will be constructed as per University of Manitoba Physical Plant Department’s proved construction standard.
In addition, the project includes the excavation and removal of the existing supply and return lines, remediation and removal of the hazardous insulation material used in the steam supply trench, Install the new lines in the trenches using the University of Manitoba’s “Utili-door” construction standard, backfill the trenches; and make good the grading that was disturbed during the excavation process and blend to match the existing grade as required.
