B175- The intent of this project is to replace/upgrade the five elevators at the RCMP K facility with new elevators including cabins and motors. High-efficiency regenerative drive elevators shall be considered as recommended in the Carbon Neutral Study.
Regenerative elevators capture the energy lost (power lost as heat), when an elevator goes down with a heavier load or up with a smaller load.
The motor acts as a generator that transforms mechanical power intro electrical, supplying the elevator and or other electrical building loads with power. Refer to Carbon Neutral Study.
The existing elevators have been experiencing frequent failures and downtime in the recent years. There was a notable increase in NSCC calls and entrapments in the last year. The electronic/mechanical are failing, and parts are becoming obsolete. Additionally, the elevator cabs have not been upgraded in many years and are starting to show signs of deterioration (interior cabs). These proposed upgrades will improve the operation/reliability of the elevators, reduce the risk of failures and entrapment, enhance the appearance of the facility and in turn ensure tenant satisfaction.
Regenerative drive elevators were recommended in the Carbon Neutral Study (Option 4), with potential annual energy and GHG savings estimated at 6,902 ekWh, 5 tons of CO2 eq.
Note that first step will be to get client to accept Investment Analysis Report so please bid
accordingly for step 1 of the process and possibility of resubmission / revisions of the IAR.
