Description

Inspect six (6) main entrance double wood doors, three along Mackenzie avenue and three along Sussex Drive, for signs of deterioration or degradation. Re-stain to bring back to their original appearance if required. They consist of solid oak wood in a decorative pattern with a stained finish in metal frames. The addition of weather stripping to the doors post restorative treatment should also be considered. The wood elements and brass hardware are of heritage value and the inspection must follow the Standards and Guidelines including the use of qualified contractors and approved methods and materials to carry out any work. All proposed maintenance must be submitted to the FHBRO and approved prior to completing the work. Restorative work also needs to be undertaken to ensure the preservation of the mosaic tile at the Sussex Drive entrance (from the exterior doors to the interior stairs). Damage to the Sussex Drive entrance mosaic tile from sulfate and water ingress, which has lifted the tiles. The entrance door was in turn scraping the floor and damaging the tile. The door was planned down to prevent it from further scraping the floor.
