The project objective is to demolish the existing three PIL Booths and replace with two new PIL Booths along with canopy/windscreen re-painting, concrete work, asphalt, line painting and other as detailed in the Sketches attached and plans and specifications that will be available at the Invitation to Tender (ITT) phase.
Find an optimal placement configuration for 2 new PIL booths at the CBSA St. Stephen Ferry Point Port of Entry. Currently there are 3 existing Primary Inspection Booths at the Ferry Point Bridge site, however, given changes in traffic patterns at this facility (due to alternate routing through newly implemented border crossings), the third lane is operational very infrequently. This third lane is difficult for medium to larger vehicles to navigate the narrow entry / exit points. Parking is also an area of concern for the CBSA, that needs to be addressed as part of the Investigate and Report (IAR). Parking spaces are inadequate to proportionately allow for secondary inspection of referrals from the 3 lanes of primary inspection. The gates currently installed on the concrete islands are inadequate and are not in line with equipment already in place at other locations. The replacement of these gates, as part of the Investigate and Report (IAR) phase of this Project is required.
