Brief Overview: A report was prepared on the condition of the east retaining wall in the fall of
2009. Because the wall was found to be in good condition, it was recommended the investigation
be completed again for continuity. If the wall has shifted or serious spalling has occurred identify
corrective action that should be taken. Ongoing monitoring of the wall is important to confirm
adequate performance and condition. Project intent is to provide a review of East retaining wall, with review of previous repairs on North retaining wall.
A separate project has been recommended for future implement due to the high water levels over
the past few years. As part of this current investigation, the consultant is asked review retaining wall on site and provide order of magnitude cost for consulting and repair to prevent flooding. Adjacent properties have installed an approx. 20"x12" concrete top cap. Estimate to assume 275' of waterfront retaining wall, with added water shedding splash guard. Consultant to determine actual height required, or alternate flood mitigation with predicted future water levels. Complete a visual site survey to determine areas of concern with increased water levels for entire site area. Complete a flood risk summary and order of magnitude cost of implementing methods to prevent site flooding.
Retaining wall approximate condition from around 2019; East Retaining wall is in good condition
with exceptions of older cracks. About 35% of the wall is along water and the remaining wall is on
land dividing property. Water access for investigation may need to be per performed from RCMP
property side due to shrubbery.
