The Contractor shall provide all required equipment
and services to meet the provisions of this project
and complete the work by March 24, 2021.
.2 BGIS reserves the right to remove specific structures
and/or properties from the scope of work.
.3 Work of this Contract comprises the demolition of
structures at up to 14 sites (PINs) located at the
Pickering Lands Site in the Pickering Lands Site area,
Ontario. Ten of the sites consist of outbuildings
(barns, garages, sheds, silos etc.), cisterns and
related structures. The scope includes the removal of
various hazardous and non-hazardous wastes,
decommissioning of wells, cisterns, septic systems (if
any), and fuel tanks (if any). Potions of the
structures identified as “Heritage Buildings” are to
be preserved and protected during demolition.
.4 The extent of the demolition work shall be for the
full demolition and removal of part of, or, the
entire building structures including:
.1 Concrete, masonry and stone foundation walls
(except where otherwise indicated on the
Drawings),
.2 Flooring,
Masonry brick walls,
.4 Timber framed structures, finishes and related
building components,
.5 Asphalt shingle, aluminum and other roofs,
.6 Concrete pads and foundations existing at the
Site, as shown on the Drawings.
.5 Ancillary structures on the sites shall be removed
as indicated including sheds, hydro poles, debris
and miscellaneous materials, fencing (where not
located along property lines).
.6 For Properties included in Scope of Work, refer to
Appendix A Property List and Locations.
.7 For Scope of Demolition included in the Work of this
Contract, refer to Appendix B Site Plans, Appendix C
Site Specific Mitigation, Appendix E Environmental
Evaluation Effects (EEE) Letters and Reports, and
Appendix F Supporting Forms. The Contractor must
adhere to the requirements, mitigation and control of
all EEE Letters and Reports for the duration of the
project. EEE Letters and Reports are prepared for
medium and high-risk projects. Work cannot commence
until approved EEE Letters and Reports have been
provided to the Awarded Contractor.
.8 Asbestos-containing materials have been identified on
some sites. Other hazardous materials shall be
removed and properly disposed of. For information on
asbestos and other Designated Substances, refer to
Appendix C Site Specific Mitigation and Appendix D
Designated Substance Surveys. Sections 02 82 11
through 13 and Provisional Unit Rates have been
included in the Contract in the case of additional
asbestos containing materials (hidden/unforeseen), not
prescribed within the reports appended to the
specifications, is discovered during demolition.
.9 Where indicated, wells located at the sites shall be
decommissioned in accordance with the applicable
regulation O. Reg. 903 as amended.
.10 Where indicated, locate and protect active shared
water lines from damage. Install curb stops where
indicated. Where required, cut and cap water line from
house adjacent to curb stop. Coordinate water shutoff
for outbuildings at tenanted sites with BGIS.
.11 Where and as indicated in Appendix C and on Drawings,
protect contaminated soil from being disturbed by
demolition work and leave foundations in place, or
remove contaminated residues for disposal in
accordance with the regulations. Allow Engineer to
inspect soil and foundations.
.12 Site restorations shall include filling in excavations
after removal of building, basements, septic tanks (as
stipulated), cisterns and any other underground items,
placing 100 mm topsoil over filled area and entire
area disturbed by demolition and seeding with grass
mixture. Driving areas formerly surfaced with asphalt
or gravel can remain as gravel surfaces.
.13 The amount of work or number of sites in this Contract
is not guaranteed and may be reduced at any time. If
all the work at a PIN is removed from the scope, the
Contract price will be reduced by the entire amount
bid for that PIN. If some of the work at a PIN is
removed from the scope, the Contract price will be
reduced in accordance with the Unit Rates, or if no
rates apply, a negotiated price.
.14 Contractor shall provide itemized pricing for each PIN
property listed on the Bid Breakdown Form (see
Appendix G). The sum of all itemized pricing must
total the lump sum bid for all locations. The
itemized prices will be evaluated for each project
individually. BGIS reserves the right to proceed or
remove any location at the itemized pricing at their
sole discretion.
